  • I posted this note on Facebook in April..

Talking with Jess yesterday made me think about the things I want to do in my life, not like I haven't been thinking of it and making lists since I learned how to write/added up endless stuff to it since forever.. but still, I've never posted anything like this on here. So, without further ado..the list of things I'm going to do before I turn 31. Just because 31 gives me 12 more months after turning 30 to finish up whatever shit I have left on this list hehehe..

1- I want to go to Paris a second time and live there for at least 3-6 months. For this I definitely need to take intensive French language courses at Alliance Française or somewhere (Lita, you wanna join me? hehehe you know you want to!). It would be so much fun to be able to converse in French and go to places without the need of a pocket translator (though maybe that pocket translator will still be tucked in my handbag just in case...). Maybe I'll do this when Jess is there, ahem hahaha. Pocket translator in that case will be you Jess :P

2- Go do my internship for a summer in New York, meaning 3 months out of my 12 month OPT time usage. Eep. Something in Public Relations or Event Planning like what Kaleigh is up to this summer! She gets to meet Black Eyed Peas and go for the Z100 events dammit haha, lucky girl..

3- Definitely up on the list is to climb a mountain. Even Mt Kinabalu hahaha, jadi lah tu. Or Kilimanjaro? Mehdi and Ali can bring me hahahaha, okay with you two? setttt :P

4- I'm stealing Jess' idea - to be a mascot hahahaha at Disneyland or something. It would be so crazy to do that for a while and find out what the mascots do backstage in the dressing rooms. Do they all share a dressing room? Do they get to eat whatever they want in the dressing room, since they can't go out in public to eat? It's so intriguing because I read an article where the mascots have to go to super-top-security rooms to change so the little kids won't sneak in and catch a glimpse of the Disney characters with their mascot-heads off.. something about not wanting to ruin a child's dream or fantasy. I probably qualify as one of Snow White's dwarf anyway haha, but I want to be one of the dogs in 101 dalmatians. That or Goofy, because he gets to do all the crazy things. Or Donald Duck because I think I can pull off DD moves... haha!

5- Publish a book. Short stories maybe?

6- Create something simple but ground-breaking, like a coffee sleeve. Then patent it and make billions off of it <3

7- Follow a trip similar to The Motorcycle Diaries. Or just go off of the movie. That would be amazing. Macchu Picchu looks like a piece of heaven. Maria, you up for it? Hehehehe ;)

8- Go on a cruise, or do the Semester at Sea. I can dream, can't I? [http://www.semesteratsea.org/]

9- Go do something with Oxfam or Habitat for Humanity or Unicef. Like what Suresh does all the time.. He gets to do so many things, meet so many people and help them. And he gets to travel everywhere too - Singapore, India, Thailand... the list goes on. Lucky guy gets to go to New York all expenses paid to go for training at the United Nations HQ in NYC this summer. Grrrrr so luckyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
I'm so jealous and happy for him at the same time! I want to do that!

10 - TBD. I don't have to know all the things I want to do in my life now, do I? :P

+ Edit: I think I know one more thing to add, I want to do the New York City Marathon. That would be amazing if I could. The first Sunday of the November! Yeahhh! Not this year definitely hahahaha, but next year or the year after, for sure :)

Alliance Francaise is very credible and commendable.Just finished a session in their London branch and my French has improved.I was advised to tey at the Paris one 'cause its a bit more intense and studying in France makes it easier and faster to grasp the language.

@preetylenses - Aaaaah I envy you! I wish I was near enough to Paris to learn french there. It would definitely be a fun way to soak up the language and the culture. Its definitely one of the things on my to do list after I graduate :)
Have you taken the intermediate or advanced classes yet? I would if I were you :)

  • ChaneliaD

@killthoseclowns - I'm taking the advanced.Just finished the second level and taking a few weeks off before starting the next.I'm hoping to spend next summer in Paris practisng....hopefully.You should indulge after graduating!

@preetylenses - That's so fun! How many languages do you speak and when did you first start learning French? I know three fluently but its only because two is similar to each other and the other is English haha. I'm way too old to get languages quick :(

And yes! Paris is a must for sure! I actually have a friend who just graduated and got accepted to work at this company just outside Paris. I'm definitely going to visit her there.. I find if you have friends somewhere it just makes it that much more fun to go around with them exploring the city and culture :)

  • ChaneliaD

@killthoseclowns - Unfortunately only English..and hopefully French soon.I'm a bit of a slow learner when it comes to languages, but when I get the hang of it,I'm quite good. Ahh your friend is lucky! Must be such a different but exciting experience/opportunity.You are quite right about friends making it all the more fun.

@preetylenses - I'm pretty slow too. I think if I wasn't thought Bahasa Malaysia and English since I was a baby, I'd probably not be as fluent in both lol. Its good to try though, it keeps your mind sharp and French is such a beautiful language. And yes! my friend is so lucky lol I envy her. She actually went to high school in Paris because her dad was working there. I'm crazy crazy jealous but happy that she invited me over when I can come lol. That will be an experience for sure :)
